It’s incredible what being outdoors and being with friends does to your mental health. 🧠🌳
Anytime I’m at a breaking point or feel overwhelmed, I go for a run or reach out to a friend.
I’ve been using that response/coping mechanism for about a month or two and it’s wild how quickly it rewires the brain.
Now that I’ve been operating like this for a bit, I’ve also noticed older coping habits have either faded or have become unappealing to me.
Likely a response to my body chasing and getting dopamine in the daily runs so it’s kinda like...I don’t even need the other stuff?
In my darkest times, I was sitting inside, staring at a screen for hours and hour, having zero sense of purpose outside of work.
Since I’ve started hitting 10-15k steps per day, running, eating cleaner and focusing on just being outside 80% of my time, I can see and feel how it’s literally altering my brain chemistry — for the better!
I’ve been through wild shit and this has been a life raft.
If you’re going thru it (like we all are), please go outside. Even for 10 mins in the morning and night. Don’t bring your phone (or put it on DND) and you’ll be amazed at what starts to happen in your mind. 🙌🏻
