Just finished “The Digital Closet” by Alexander Monea. Even on platforms like Collective, queer expression is censored because of heteronormative biases that shape how digital spaces are built, moderated, and regulated. A frustrating reality, but an insightful read. 🤓

Spring scents! Let me know what you’re wearing. Unsurprisingly, I love fig fragrances, and this one marries what I love about Diptyque’s Philosykos with this beautiful salted olive note.

Albino by Marlene Dumas. Part of a really interesting exhibit on Pan-Africanism at the Art Institute, with some 350 objects made by black artists. Highly recommend!

Man Drying His Leg by Gustave Caillebotte, now showing at the Art Institute. Some French critics have said that this exhibit was overly influenced by gender studies in its analysis and speculation of Caillebotte’s sexuality… all the while this painting literally exists. 🛁

The First Homosexuals exhibition at the Wrightwood 659, with more than 300 pieces sourced across the world to document the beginning of the conscious representation of queerness in art. Beyond incredible.
