Pretty safe for me to conclude that I have little to no luck with swipe based dating apps. Have matched with thousands of people in aggregate between 2017-2026 being off and on Tinder/Hinge, and of those, I only still talk to one. He’s a very good friend of mine since like, 2019. I statistically have better luck on meeting people offline or even on hookup apps (hate using those just because I also put up with a lot of nonsense on them) for both dates and friendships; it’s pretty much how I met all my prior romantic relationships. Does anyone else experience this? I always wonder how much of it stems from how I approach dating apps vs. from factors such as me competing against the countless other options my matches likely have, the lack of the immediacy of an in person meetup since meeting in person and, more often than not, HU apps collapse that gap between interest and action whereas Hinge/Tinder kinda draw it out with the back and forth texting for days/weeks before a date that may or may not go well takes place, etc. Previously would’ve pointed to the gay community and concluded that they just like going after the shiny new thing, especially in larger cities, which likely has some truth to it, but it’s probably better to look within or point my finger at the multi-million-dollar corporation whose core motive (to make money) overlaps very little, if at all, with their users’ motives (to find love or lasting connections).

NOLA accents are the best American accents, and no one can convince me otherwise!! that “behhhbay” will have me giggling and kicking my feet every time
Not sure who needs to hear this, but your time is too valuable to be planning around “maybes.“

i always feel extremely hesitant to buy from any company that uses a lot of AI to market their products—goods or services. especially if it’s easily discernible. will outright avoid if it includes AI-generated pics or “art.” because what other corners are they willing to cut?

happy sunday~
IMO you haven’t experienced owning a pet until you own one that’s pretty asf and knows it. It changes you as a person…
What are you guys’ thoughts on gays who feel compelled to specify they’re “gay and NOT queer?” Always something that gets a subtle side-eye from me, but maybe I’m being unreasonable?
why does doing psychedelics with someone feel 100x more vulnerable than straight up stripping down naked in front of them
A dark gray graphic with white text that reads 'I am starting a petition to no longer refer to AI "art" as AI art but instead as Computer-Rendered Artificial Pictures (CRAP). Pass it on.'
Rolls nicely off the tongue.
Been having the 2000s white collar urge to purchase a Blackberry in 2026. Are they even functional anymore?

SaWaDiKa music video was laughably good. Little underwhelming lyrically, but Lisa + her team always come through with the visuals.
The smell of poppers makes me physically gag.
Currently the recipient of the silent treatment from grandparents with whom I had a very close relationship ever since I came out. Has been nearly a year. Is trying to strong arm them even worthwhile at this point, or do I keep reciprocating their silence?
Somewhat confusing to me how my friends, family, and colleagues seem to appreciate my calm and “nonchalant” personality while it seems to bother partners or dating prospects. Also interesting seeing the discourse online around dating those kinds of men. I’m naturally a very calm and composed person, and even when I laugh or talk, fully engaged, I’m just not overly expressive. It’s my natural baseline, so I don’t intentionally try to hide my emotions or act distant to seem more “mysterious” or feel superior to others. It’s just how I naturally am. Feels very discouraging because oftentimes in dates or romantic relationships, it feels like I can never exist without people analyzing me and collapsing what they interpret from their readings of me into the most threatening possible narratives and thus pull back in response. Masking it by feigning emotiveness resolves this in the short-term, but it drains me very quickly. Not sure if I’m missing something about how I come across to people or if my personality will always come with this by-product.
NOT DOLLY?!
Did anyone catch the Ziwe x Law Roach interview? Probably my top 3 fav Ziwe interview lmao.

Can’t stop thinking about this. Toni Morrison, “Beloved”
Sometimes find it very easy for me to tell when someone hasn’t experienced much, if any, kind of hardship in their life. Not the case every time, but in my experience, they tend to be dull, have a bland sense of humor, have a lack of empathy/curiosity about people or the world, and, most commonly, have this jarring sense of entitlement that’s disproportionate to their effort/work ethic and shows that they’re not used to anyone telling them “no.”
Extremely tempted to get a very subtle canthoplasty. Might feminize my face a bit, but I don’t care.
