How to find Perth Canyon
Look west – it is right there, a fissure
filled with fish and salt and pressure.
Wave to The Big Blue and they will wave
back at you: look at what you’ve started.
Deep sea and deep time meet in the current,
an ecology of granite path, a breeding cliff.
To find Canyon, take spoon, or bucket, kneel,
unspool 10,000 years with repetitive moves.
Where does all the water go? Where
does all the water come from? Gigantic
is another word for abyss, which rests
at the edge. Bring your own light.
Close eyes, wade with senses, let tenses
shift – all that exists has existed all along.
