We say we want healing, but we keep repeating the same patterns, choosing the same people and situations that hold us exactly where we’ve always been. Because familiar suffering — no matter how much it hurts — feels safer than the emptiness of the unknown. Often, the problem isn’t the other person — it’s the part of us that still believes we deserve so little, or that we’ll only be seen if we bleed beautifully.
