I went to MotherDisco by myself tonight, here are my Opinions...
1. βSometimes being a gay Black man in a space like this feels like stepping into a room where youβre both the main character and the mystery guest.β
2. βThereβs nothing like that moment when another Black queer person spots you across the room and you share that silent nod like, βYou good? We safe? You cute.ββ
3.βThe best part? When the right song comes on β the one only the Black girls, the Black gays, and your spirit understand β and suddenly youβre not at Mother Disco anymore. Youβre in a church. Your church.β
4.βBeing Black and gay in a club is always a balance between: Do I want attention tonight or do I want peace tonight? Because I canβt have both.β
