As someone who lives here, I say doooo it (and find a job when you arrive)

@carlosalvarado i feel it in my bones! I probably should just wing it, working in media i have no idea how a non spanish speaker (YET!) will survive but i might just have to change gear haha

Find a job first, the market in Barcelona is really tough if you are not working in technology/IT/apps etc. It’s an amazing city, I’ve lived there for almost 6 years but finding a good and fullfiling job was impossible (I’m a journalist, editor, producer - you name it). I was winging it for 6 years but there was a point when I had to decide if I want my career back or just enjoy amazing spanish life without exercising my professional ambitions…

@grabari yeah I wouldn’t want that, working in media with a super competitve swedish market i wouldn’t expect less from Barcelona. I will try and branch out and see what I actually can do in Barcelona adjacent to my work and my professional ambitions, one part says fuck it just go but the other says give yourself 6 months to figure it out before you just take your whole life across europe 🥲

@adampatryk Exactly! Depends how you see it long-term - I was able to work remotely and then having part-time job (not in my profession tho, typical office one) in Barcelona and it was enough to live there, travel etc. But it was not sustainable in a long shot to build a lasting future there. Keeping my fingers crossed for you because it’s an amazing place! Good luck

Unfortunately i am considering Barcelona because the swedish film industry is falling apart, if i move i have to start from the beginning since last 3 years i’ve been developing a feature film that will now take more time to see the light of day than i anticipated ᴖ̈ but i feel hopeful! I think i need a slap in the face
