The fact that I haven’t texted with a man in like ages, it says a lot on how I really have no idea what I want in this period of my life! Some times I try to start a convo with someone who lives here or even ppl who live abroad, but I never see so much interest if it’s not a hookup! My delusional ass is always thinking that someone would like my photos so much and get so interested in me so they’d try to get to know me and then who knows… but i get that it’s just too much effort nowadays for ppl to establish a friendship/relationship when you know maybe you’ll never meet this person! But also how do you find someone you like?! That man maybe is on Mars 🤣

If somethings meant to happen it will… This weekend I went to Berlin to meet a guy at an event he was doing that I’d been chatting to on here as we plan to work together. Another Collective guy was also passing through and at the same event. So I also met him. The event also was showcasing work by an artist who’s on here, so I also met him. All of them are partnered or married, I’m the only single, but none of us were there for hook ups, it’s all about network, connection and friendships. So, don’t give up 🤞🏻

I feel you, but I guess what we can do is be patient with ourselves and trust that when situations present to us we’ll know how to handle them 🫂

I get it. I left the “dating“ apps a few years back simply because it felt degrading. Who needs that?? I have to admit, however, that Collective does seem to be more about connection and learning more about people and not about hook ups. I find that pretty refreshing. I also see an opportunity using Collective to connect with people as I travel around the world without the premise of hooking up. Have patience and give yourself some grace, but don’t stop trying. It may just take some time. 💙

If I like something enough to talk to them consistently, I usually move things off this app with a number or something

Nowadays internet interactions always kinda frustrate me. When I first go into chatting online it was all about interaction, meeting new people, getting to know new stuff, having e-company. Hooking up or meeting in person were never at the table at first glance. Now… everybody seems to be fishing for attention with as little attention as they can part with.

@dusk yes it’s often a one-way street, but when you do make a connection it can bring real rewards. But it is hard to find them!!

@fridi105 Yup, I kind of have this rule as well, i.e. if we don’t exchange contact details at the end of the meet-up (if we get to that point), it wasn’t meant to be.

I actually think that it’s an important call out that you made with regard to the effort that it takes to establish new friendships. And it is always a joy when the effort is reciprocated whether it’s with people who are in your city or abroad. But it is equally as saddening and frustrating when the effort dissipates for whatever reason. Keep at it though I’m sure there will be someone out there. Who would love to text you every minute of the day.
