For fantasy, try The Nightrunner series. It’s a fantasy adventure filled with espionage, magic, and intrigue. It follows two rogues as they navigate political plots, and dangerous missions. Soo many books, but you probably only have to read the first three. I love them because the romance isn’t the focal point, but is still there when it needs it.

Before Night Falls - Reinaldo Arenas (great autobiography of a poet who lived through both cultural and homosexuality repression in Castro’s Cuba. Beyond the political aspect, great essay on artists repression on a totalitarian society) Douglas Stewart - Mungo (quite a violent story, but a great one, about a teenager growing in a working class family in Glasgow, trying to figure out his sexuality)

Last Call by Elon Green. It’s a true crime story about a serial killer in NYC in the late 80s/early 90s, which is a little scary, but I found it super interesting to read about NYC nightlife back then and also the case is really interesting to follow.
