Surely isolation is much worse than togetherness.

I always find that this depends on the situation and, most importantly, the individual/group of people. Isolation doesn't always lead to loneliness, in my experience. In fact, more often than not, isolating has helped me retain my sanity and self-worth, and I didn’t regret this choice in the long run either. Of course, this is coming from a realist who sees things as they are and is more on the introverted side, so each to their own, I guess ☺️

@justkp you make perfect sense and I 100% agree. I think I was talking about extreme isolation, like a refusal to participate in society. Or nationalistic movements on the uprise in countries, with ideas like “we are the best, we are enough, we don’t need the world”. Isolation can be a needed sanctuary. I just think balance is important.

@justkp What I was thinking of, for example, is I have a parent who’s getting older and has chosen to isolate more and more because of life traumas and two cancers, and that is giving me so much fear of losing that parent before they even actually die.

@chavdar Oh I see, I definitely approached this question from a different perspective! Knowing the context a bit more, I 100% agree, classic divide and conquer is what it is, and in that sense, I do wish people stuck together too. I’m really sorry to hear about your parent, and I’m glad they have you because you clearly care about them. I’ve been in a similar situation in the past and the best you can do is care, which you already do. Even if it doesn’t necessarily have a visible or immediate effect. Sending hugs!
