my first thought seeing this selfie was “ew, Grayson, you are so skinny. You aren’t making any progress.” the negative self talk is LOUD - and I’m learning to observe that voice and not attach to it as my own, but a voice of a very insecure young boy who desperately seeks belonging.

As a natural skinny boy that loses mass easily, it’s crazy how loud that self talk can be. Even when we get bigger and we really aren’t even skinny, they persist, because that’s how our self critique has been trained. It’s so important to not only remember that voice is attached to insecurity but also that we, our bodies, will always be in flux and that we are not any less beautiful just because we have a few less pounds of muscle. You look great now and deserve the same self respect now as you would if you gained more 😌
