Despite all the internal and external chaos that being Not Straight™ can bring, it really is a blessing to not be beholden to the expectations of heteronormativity, and that becomes more apparent as I approach my 30s.
I can, and likely will, be single my entire life and never really have to justify or explain it to anyone.
There’s significantly less (or no) pressure to date or have children. Freedom to define what aging and developing into your highest form gets to look like for you. What your family gets to look like, even that only includes friends and pets.
