I’ve been “out” for 3 years now, sober for 5. I’ve never been one for hookups and find myself feeling so alienated from the gay community. I don’t drink or party or rave, I don’t know have meaningless hookups, and they seem to be the only ways gays reach each other. Feeling very alone

I know it can be tough because so much of gay socializing is often based around bars and clubs, but I’m sure you’ll meet some amazing people if you’re up to it.

I rarely go out to party as I get easily overwhelmed and I'm very picky on the music. Never really been great with meaningless hookups either. Don't really get anything out of that as I much prefer to have some level of connection before doing anything. So I get you❤️

For what it’s worth, I don’t think you’re alone in feeling alienated by gay hookup culture! For some it works fine it seems but for others it doesn’t feel so healthy or safe enough? I also think apps channel us into presenting a certain stance but often when you do meet with guys, they also want emotional connection too

All the things that you have achieved and described are huge green flags. I am genuinely amazed and proud of you (and a bit jealous :)) I believe it just takes time to find someone who is not like others and is capable of seeing these awesome parts of you and your lifestyle.

You are certainly not alone. I have felt the same way, for a lot of my life, but I have learnt in recent years that there are so many queer groups out there that find common ground on a particular interest. Run clubs, sports groups, car gays etc so many things that I am working up the courage to give a go. Search locally, even Facebook for groups you might find common interest with. Might find your ppl 🫶🏻

Not alone bud, there’s plenty of guys that would be willing to be just friends all you have to do is set boundaries if they respect the they are worth your time if they don’t f em.
