“Tom White in Newport Beach” is a reference photo probably taken by Tuke and used in serval of his paintings. Over 100 years later and artists are using the same techniques to create their work. This tickles a very specific part of my nerd brain.
“Under the Western Sun” 1917 by Henry Scott Tuke I’m examining his works as part of a photo series I’ve been working on. This painting stood out to me not necessarily because of the composition, but because of the references we have.
