Take your time. At first it is very difficult, but as time goes, it will become easier and easier. This friendship break up is a step towards new life phase, try to look at it this way. Also, try talking about your feelings (whatever they are, anger, anxiety,sadness) with someone you are considerable with or with therapist (if you have such an opportunity). Pick up a hobby. Something you wouldn’t do with them. Or push yourself further in a hobby you started before you met them / didn’t do with them. I sing to get over things like this because the friends I have broken away from don’t sing with me so it works as an excellent outlet without bringing up memories while I’m trying to organise my feelings.

@hando ty. There are a lot of what I call closeted homophobes in my area, along with general manipulative people and I was very trusting and gullible for the longest time so I would almost consider myself an expert of friendship breakups. The method also works for relationship breakups. The attention span is limited. Stimulate your sorrows away :D
