This new wave of Republican gays has been incredibly heartbreaking to witness as a queer person who had to escape a genocide as a child, and come to this country for some peace. Only to reach age 30 and watch my comrades and coworkers and neighbors who are all minorities, slowly turn into bootlicking republicans who suck up to the rich white cis straight man. I don’t know who to feel safe around anymore. It’s not just straight white people who want to erase US, this incel shit has rotted the brains of even minorities.

It's crazy... I have a frien, who is gay, that is a republican and I'm like... uh..... excuse me??? I think some of them think if they side with the currently stronger, more vocal, more authoritarian party they'll be spared or something... it's incredibly disheartening.

History teaches us, that even during the nazie regime, affluent faggots were the first ones to bend the knee to in turn receive bullet to their heads. It won’t be much different this time around.

As a millennial who is actively curating a world where unity, diversity, and rainbows can thrive, it’s incredibly striking that younger folks are increasingly more conservative too, alongside older folks coming out of the woodwork as conservative gays. It seems they’re coming out of the closet all over again lol. I also think there are real differences between Republicans, conservatives, and the MAGA cult, the latter of which thrives on sowing hatred and discord. I understand why there are Republican gays or even “conservative” gays, since our community is built to be broad in spectrum and thought. From observation, this affiliation with conservative values seems centered around internalized shame wrapped up in the fixation on being “straight-acting,” as if straightness is the benchmark. What raises some eyebrows, though, is when gays who are already part of marginalized communities feel the need to sideline other marginalized communities, especially our dolls. And while the delulu MAGA dissent has grown louder, they won’t be successful 💅🏼
