I absolutely loved A Single Man (Isherwood), Stoner (Williams) and am currently reading Middlemarch, which is a bit more of a slog. Always happy to talk books 🫶🏽

Just finished Life of Pi and it was great! House of Hollow is one of my faves. Is a mystery about discovering the past. Its fantastically disturbing and after reading this book I read all of Krystal Sutherland’s books. My favourite word she frequently uses in her books really suits the vibe ‘Strangeness’ Folk of the Air series (The Cruel Prince is the first book) is my faves series. Made by one of the Spiderwick Chronicles authors. Slow burn fae book, lots of betrayal and trickery between the main couple. If you want something educational Block, Delete, Move on (Lalalaletmeexplain) and Women don’t owe you pretty (Florence Given) are easily digestible feminist books, first one is really good for modern day dating advice which can benefit anyone no matter the identity. A great comic - Laura Dean Keeps Breaking up with Me. Is a lesbian story about self love and choosing yourself. I can check my bookcase if you’re wanting BL books though when I get home. I am a big reader !

Recently read Song of Achilles, it was very beautifully written and an interesting perspective of the story of Achilles. Otherwise I recommend Tomorrow, Tomorrow, Tomorrow, lots of fun to read if you’re into video games / grew up playing them.

@luca.stefanizzi goodness a man after my own heart! Have you read Keep the Aspidistra Flying or Coming up for Air - both by Orwell? Great books and each so relevant for young people today. Not to be basic but I found A Little Life actually quite well-written…I read Bonfire of the Vanities last year too and ripped through it like it was a Netflix show. But then again I was the same with Crime and Punishment….

They Both Die at the End, The House in the Cerulean Sea - they do lean towards a younger demo but very beautiful stories. The End of Loneliness I thought it was written majestically. And if you're into thriller maybe The Only One Left

If you’re looking for something emotional to read this summer, I’d highly recommend Stoner by John Williams, The Remains of the Day by Kazuo Ishiguro, and A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman. They all explore life, relationships, regrets, and the small moments that end up defining who we are. I also really enjoyed Normal People by Sally Rooney and Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro for the way they capture love, human connection, and the bittersweet passage of time. These are the kind of books that stay with you long after you’ve finished them.
