Gender is hard for me to intellectually understand for my own identity. I politically identify as a woman, but I don’t assign my parts to a specific gender. The best way to say it is that “I’m a soul within a body”. I don’t view myself as masc at all, but I do view myself to have bro-y lesbian vibes. But at the same time I’m super girlypop but the genderless femme type. And I don’t have a specific preference for pronouns either. Prob just not he/him. Is this GNC????

I absolutely think that’s gnc, but I also think that you have the ability to identify that however you want too. It makes complete sense to have political identities and bodily identities that don’t consistently line up given the varying identities we all inhabit. IMO if you feel you don’t conform to the cisgender ideal of the gender you were assigned, then that’s gender non conforming 💜

@lunared this is helpful!! Because anytime someone refers to me as cis a big ⁉️ pops up in my brain & it doesn’t resonate. I do recognize my political identity as a woman and my femme expression makes it look like I’m a cis woman, so I don’t get mad at people for that association. I do like to share with people the multiple truths of my gender identity if they are open to hearing though

It definitely sounds like GNC but feel free to be fluid with it, these things take time to identify so definitely take your time to decide but also like in my example my identities have grown with me so they’re different then when I started my self acceptance journey and honestly I’m still going through it so give yourself grace :)

@hazelnut_slut this makes a lot of sense! And I get the ⁉️ thing, that really helped me realise I was non binary was having that kind of response to people seeing me as a woman (or even when ppl are misogynistic towards me, bc it’s like a double whammy of shitty behaviour and seeing me for something I’m not?!) sometimes I feel so devoid from any kind of gender that I almost can’t be bothered to perform some kind of androgyny, because it just feels like it doesn’t matter or affect how I feel inside (similarly to you, like a soul in a body). I don’t think you need to justify your identity to anyone though - like you can be femme presenting and absolutely still be gnc or non binary, that in itself is enough. If it feels that way then that’s what you are! As @iamartisticking says you have time to understand your identity and figure it out, there’s no rush and it’s nice to be able to share the complexity with the ppl who matter :)
