I’ve been thinking a lot about flakiness in dating. I don’t think most people are trying to be careless — I think they’re just trying to manage a lot. Especially those of us who grew up in the 90s, balancing survival, creativity, and emotional capacity in a world that constantly demands more. We say we want connection, and I believe we do. But between work, self-preservation, and the noise of social media, it’s hard to have the energy to start something new. Sometimes people flirt just to feel alive for a second — a dopamine hit in a world that rarely gives back. It’s frustrating on both sides. One person’s trying to invest while job-hunting and staying afloat. Another’s ghosting not because they don’t care, but because they’re spent. I don’t think it’s that people don’t want love — I think we’re all just trying to feel like we still have something left to give.
