@andrew.houghton I always cry my eyes out during the mum’s letter scene 😭 I’m so glad there’s a recording of the show, same for The Phantom of the Opera! Wish it was easier to find dvd/blu-ray recordings of plays and musicals

@lorenzoinlondon As soon as you said Billy Elliot I thought ‘do I mention the letter’. It breaks me! Yes! I love seeing them recorded. I know quite a few get shown in cinemas now but I want to keep them haha. I have Miss Saigon, Jesus Christ Superstar Arena Tour, and Shrek. Shrek with the original cast is actually EPIC. (Any other time I’ve seen it… not so much)

@lunared Have you seen it in London? I have heard that apparently it was better on Broadway?

Not to brag but I saw the preview at the national theatre before it went to broadway, which was exceptional! Then I saw it again when it had a proper run in the west end - which I did enjoy for sure and it’s worth seeing but it was also very different (and some of the accents were quite jarring tbh!) but regardless of which production you see it’s the most amazing show to see live

Come From Away is just master storytelling. It’s not sung through but the score flows all the way through - the album IS the entire script practically. It’s a 90 min ensemble piece with everyone multi-roling, telling the story of a small airport in Newfoundland where loads of the flights were diverted during 9/11. So naturally there are parts of it which are harrowing, but overall it’s more about community coming together. It’s funny and so full of heart and just make you feel good about humanity, even if just for 90 mins 😅

@andrew.houghton wow, now I can’t wait to see it! In terms of plays, have you seen Harry Clarke, with Billy Crudup? It was INCREDIBLE

Oh really? No, I remember seeing the publicity for it but I didn’t make it! I love seeing plays, but they tend to run for less time so it can be tricky. I liked the Death of England plays @sohoplace

Titanique is great for the gays! I’m taking my friend to see The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and also Cabaret this weekend, which are great! Im looking forward to ‘The Comedy About Spies’ from the same people who did ‘The Play That Goes Wrong’

@lloydhe if I could travel in time to see any Broadway shows, it’d be Alex Newell & Lea Salonga in Once On This Island, or Cynthia Erivo & Jennifer Hudson in The Color Purple

@andrew.houghton ugh seeing Cynthia and JHud in The Color Purple would’ve been a DREAM, that should’ve been a proshot. And I’m so sad that I missed seeing Lea in OOTI, I got to see it only two weeks after she had left

My Son’s a Queer, But What Can You Do? was a hoot and a half. But I’m a sucker for Rocky Horror, 42nd Street, Hamilton and BOM :)

“Fun Home” is one of my faves. Saw it on Broadway in a small, intimate theater and it was beautiful.

@andrew.houghton omg I am VERY jealous of that. I miss Phantom being on Broadway 😭😭😭 my husband bought us tickets to see it literally the weekend before the pandemic shut everything down in NYC.
