many are discrediting what’s happening in Nepal as just a result of the insane normalized racism South Asia has been facing. I saw plenty of outsiders reducing it all to “gen z protests against an instagram ban”. Fascism doesn’t come knock on your door saying “hi it’s me fascism”, it happens step by step and the first one is censorship. In a society where social media serves as a way to spread information when western media avoid the topic, banning it is a slap in the face to the lower classes, a way of saying: what happens here stays here.
