The make good gear, but the company lacks a sense of humor. A decade or two ago, when The Norrh Face first became all the rage on university campuses in the US, a couple of college kids in the US marketed parody T-shirts that inverted their logo so that the arches were on the left with the tops of them facing down, and the text was on the right. Using the same font, they changed the text to “THE SOUTH BUTT.” It was so stupid and sophomoric that it was funny. They set up a web site and started selling nationally. The North Face sued them for trademark infringement. I think they could have fought it as they didn’t make the same kind of things and because parody is protected as free speech. But they were just students without resources to hire lawyers and fight in court, so they just stopped selling them. I think I still have a T-shirt somewhere. 😀
