anyone else experience physical chest pain from having feelings of love for someone who is not available for you?? If I wasn’t feeling so much limerence I would seriously have taken myself to the ER 💔

Physical manifestations of stress or sadness are normal but sadly seldom discussed so they’re more confusing and concerning than they have to be. Chest constriction or pain is often connected to sadness, while rage is often associated with hip tightness. It is still a good idea to run through a general health check to make sure it’s nothing serious.

@kaliperry for sure, and thank you for this. I will be due for another annual physical in about a few months. But real talk, this is grief in my body for sure. I will daydream & the chest pain will go away but then it comes back when I realize how much I like this person and how they aren’t available & I need to shift my expectations for them. Ughhhhh❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹

@hazelnut_slut I’d say it’s highly likely it’s a somatic expression of grief. Have you ever looked into somatic therapy techniques or polyvagal theory? Some of the practices could help you move through it.

@kaliperry yes!! Are you a somatic therapist? I think I need to incorporate more movement in general but especially movement that will help me release my grief

@hazelnut_slut I’m a trauma informed strength coach - so basically I have a lot of chronic pain clients I help recognise the difference between stress related pain and an actual injury. I’ve also personally done EMR therapy and it was pretty life changing, I often encourage my clients to try it or another form of somatic therapy.
