Track your calories and protein intake to meet your goals (either building muscle or burning fat). Set a workout plan and follow it. Learn how to do the exercises in your plan correctly. Focus on doing the exercises well (ie, getting the appropriate stretch and using correct form) over lifting as heavy as you can. Push yourself to failure (where you can only do 1-2 more reps, max). Take rest days and get plenty of sleep. That’s basically it!

@erosx_x you’re welcome! A trainer can really help. Apps like FitBod are really great.

Do a full body workout 3-4x a week and stick with it for at least 6 months. It’ll take a bit to see progress, but you have to stay consistent and keep going. Otherwise eat your target body weight in pounds in grams of protein per-day and fill in the rest with healthy carbs and fats. Pretty much autopilot from there. I’m working on this myself, feel free to DM me if I can help!

Gains don’t care about the “number” of reps. It cares about work, form, focus. Going to failure end of set is good way to achieve this. Strength training BEFORE cardio. You’ll be too tired and depleted of carbs for explosive direct training if you do cardio first. Abs aren’t just made in the kitchen. The core needs to be trained too. Deadlifts are great for this. Alcohol prevents protein synthesis. Don’t bother working out day of and after if you drank. There’s multiple ways to skin a cat. My fav workouts target the same muscle groups as other workouts that I hate.

Some said it but i will stress this more, FORM over weight. Make sure you do the exercises correctly or you will hurt yourself in the process. Many apps can show you how to do the exercise and what to focus on, but a person at the gym can help assess if you’re doing it correctly. General rule, if any muscle hurts other than the one you are working, stop, you’re doing something wrong. And yes, count calories, fats and protein, you can figure out your ideal macros intakes online easily but can help if needed

In my experience, start tracking calories and macros - apps like MyFitnessPal can help you with that. And don’t stress about not hitting nutrition goals or being 100% precise all the time. Next, if you want to go to a gym, find one that’s close by or in an otherwise accessible place for you and your needs (good opening hours, good facilities, etc.) and get an induction class. It’s a good way to make friends and also make sure you won’t injure yourself. Make sure you dress appropriately for your workout, too. I’d also recommend you consider getting some workout equipment for at home, which can cover for the days you can’t get to the gym (e.g. it’s closed) or go for a jog or whatever (e.g. bad weather) - something like GymProLuxe is handy to have or some dumbbells and a yoga mat for body weight exercises.

Depending on what you are looking to get out of going, a personal trainer will help you find a routine that will get you results a lot quicker than trying to figure it out alone, for a more personal feel look out for local training clubs rather than big commercial gyms, this can work especially well if you are completely new to gym training

I watched a lot of youtube (like basic beginner training), then planning with chatpgt and tracking every training in Hevy app (it’s super easy) to see the progress. The most important was to built the gym session into your daily routine and enjoy it - especially since like in my case, I am still waiting for a big results phase. But I look forward to every session and the endorphine hit after is amazing :)

Don’t compare yourself to people you see on social media, including this app. Measure yourself against what you looked like or were able to do previously and you’ll be surprised at how far you can go after a few months, even a year.

If you showed up to the gym, then you’ve done 1/2 the work.
