I grew up with Massive Attack, from the moment I was born. Probably before that too tbh. They’re my parent’s favourite band, as well as one of mine, and we’re going to see them together in a couple of months. I will probably cry. Which, while I’m here, there’s only a single song from them that I can not listen to. We had a family friend when I was young who was like an aunt to me, she also loved Massive Attack. When I was around 6 years old she was diagnosed with cancer and now heat miser always makes me think of seeing how sick she looked when I visited her in the hospital shortly before she died. I have to remove the song from every playlist and entirely refuse to ever play it. I’m not even really sure why the trauma is related to that track, from memory teardrop played at her funeral. I think it’s something to do with the heavy breathing on it.
