Last year I took a hard look at my friendships and effectively burned them to the ground. I wasn’t supported at a time when I needed it most, and never asked for anything apart from sympathy and genuine empathy.
I don’t regret it for a minute.
Simultaneously, I made a commitment to really try to find my people, get off social media, and try making connections in real life. Holy sh*t, that was a bust lmao. Suburbs are the death of community, if it ever did exist here, and people are averse to being open and lowkey antisocial.
It’s hard existing in a grey space where you don’t fit in with the norm, nor with the overwhelming majority of the minority. Often I feel like an alien.
