No one talks about how challenging it is being a sober person in queer spaces, usually revolved around party drugs. It’s like I’m an outcast in my own community. 😢

Same, gurl!! Becoming an outsider every „bathroom break“, multiple „what, why?“-s and the fear of rejection or missing out on connection 🫠

I totally feel that. I don’t drink, smoke or do any sort of drug and I’m always feeling that

right? i don’t even know what it is like anymore because being sober drove me away from queer spaces way before I realised it was happening

Goes for smoking too! I’ve quit a bunch of times, but it’s easy to fall back into old habits in queer spaces.

I felt that too. But knowni think the perspective is slightly different if you have been always sober vs if you got sober and you know what you’re not choosing and the value of being sober. It’s hard but i think its getting better as mote and more people are becoming sober and there’s more understanding of it, also from folks that use, which i think is key! Ultimately it’s about care and community

I feel this. It’s a constant interior battle on what do to. For the moment, at least.

You are not an outcast. You are an uncelebrated god. There are not a lot of us that are out, loud, and proud about our chemical journeys and our responsibility to ourselves and our loved ones. You deserve recognition. 🔥

Joined the non-alcohol club recently too and don’t join the bathroom breaks … i feel this too. To deal with own inhibitions is one thing but seeing how unattractive drunk or coked guys are is another one. A party still can work out with good people and good atmosphere but it’s always a kind of lottery. I also see and enjoy that soberness is appreciated and opens doors to vulnerable and humble talks.
