The first time someone called me “daddy” in bed, it took me out so hard because I’m an actual dad. In recent years, most of the guys who reach out to me are younger, and I’ve gotten used to hearing them say “age is just a number,” a line that used to go the other way when I was growing up. The openness of “daddy” culture is a real sea change. I’m working on a book about this now and would love to know: If you’re drawn to daddies, what is it that attracts you? When did this start? When you pursue age-gap relationships, do you feel accepted by others? What do you wish more people understood about all this? Share your thoughts!

Looks like when you become certain age they called you like that but I think it’s not literal at all. It’s just part of the weird gay culture that it is imposible to understand

“What do you wish more people understood about this?” In my experience as a top it’s less about an age and more about an energy/presence you bring into the dynamic. 3 out of my past 4 relationships have all been with partners who called me ‘daddy’ AND were all older than me (ranging from 1-2 to 10+yrs older age gap).

That’s fascinating @millan — and I haven’t heard that dynamic (the older partner calling the younger daddy) before. I get “daddy” in either role as a vers, but I think my age is a more prominent factor.

I mean… it’s the archetypical masculine male role.. I guess it has to do with maturity as well. Kinda protective. You know.. in a homosexual context usually is the older at least above 35-40 I guess. I can’t imagine someone at 20 years old being cold daddy. They hardly have hair on them. Anyways.. good luck with your book

I definitely see a shift away from “daddy” always dominance, as it used to, even if it’s still most common. But you got on a good point: being slotted into any “pre-edited” fantasy can feel devaluing.

A while back I remember a discussion about the term daddy being a state of mind rather than an age, the idea that with it came a confidence to lead make decisions and provide a role model energy and I kind of like that take on it
