Pride is a Protest. Pride Should be a Massive Protest. I don’t want corporate sponsored parades and 1 month rainbow logos. I want to Fight. Our Pride is beautiful, powerful, angry, honest, and full of scars. Our Pride is threatened and I’m sick of it. I’m here, We are Here and we WILL fight. Well put! Our community should not get excited just because some corporation has recognized that our community has lots of disposable income and chosen to have a big float in and give out a lot of bits and bobbles in the Pride parades.

@casbahmike Exactly. With such an imminent threat to our community’s rights and Trans people under such vicious attacks it would feel so disingenuous to me to be out at a celebration rather than participating in a protest.

religious conservatives. For the most part, they are claiming economic challenges, but Target had already removed Pride merchandise from certain stores. We’re entering scary times!

@casbahmike Yea many companies have been pulling support for a while now. We have made it a decided point that we won’t spend money at places that are cutting DEI programs. Even if it’s cheaper because we have the privilege of doing so. But it is scary that this is the America we live in.

@spencelmenace indeed. And the level of intimidation is intense, not just for the LGBTQ+ community, but for so many others. I have friends of Muslim background who are afraid to travel abroad, even though their citizens! I work in higher ed, and the chilling effect is palpable!
