Does this app only match if you match EXACT intentions? Or can you match if you select one of the options the other person chose?

- You’ll match if one of your intentions matches theirs. -When intentions matched, you’ll see which intentions are a match - With Pro you’ll even see what intentions the other person selected that didn’t match yours

The intentions confuse me a bit because the choice seems to be chat only, meet as friends, or meet romantically, but they’re labeled Get to know, friends, or date, if I remember correctly. I’m willing to get to know most people I meet. Friends is not so much an intention as something that happens as a result of getting to know someone. Date is pretty clear. It indicates an interest in some sort of sexual relationship. So I guess what I’m saying is that I think there is some potential for friendship with almost everyone I follow, even those I’m not at all sexually attracted to.

@casbahmike they’re “intentions” on why you follow someone. - Get to know is basic, like wanting to know more about them, like starting connections. -Friends is like wanting to be Friends with that person. Many follow certain people wanting to be their friend from the get-go maybe both parties would hit it off immediately. -Date is following with the intention of wanting a romantic connection with someone. If they’re both matched with the Date option it’ll let both parties know they’re interested in being romantically as well, it doesn’t have to be sexual.

@casbahmike one way to think of the “get to know” option is that a lot of people don’t feel comfortable communicating romantic or platonic intentions until they’ve had a chance to speak with / develop a connection and understanding with that person. It’s somewhat a positive North American quality that many people feel getting to know someone and becoming friends are almost the same thing, but a lot of other cultures, especially across Europe, aren’t always as open and wouldn’t consider getting to know someone the same as becoming friends with them. So the separate button can be useful to have a distinction for some people :)

Besides the matches, to me it seems this app is more about showing off our great bodies than making real connection. But I’ve only been here for a week so maybe I’m totally wrong.

The profiles that show other things than body shots interest me the most so maybe that’s why I said that.

Icl I also pick ‘get to know’ because anything can come from that 🤷‍♂️
