AMEN to that! Aside from the benefits to the soul, recent research shows that a walk in the woods actually has positive physical and psychological effects. Most of all, nature puts me in my place! No matter how stressed I feel because work is overwhelming or life has thrown me a curve ball, I go outside and see that the smallest insect or fungi is important to the survival of the tallest tree and vice-versa, but nature adapts and survives even after the worst disasters. Whole civilizations rise and fall, disasters wipe out whole orders of organisms, yet nature simply adapts. We may think we’re important, but ultimately we are so very small!
