Currently the recipient of the silent treatment from grandparents with whom I had a very close relationship ever since I came out. Has been nearly a year. Is trying to strong arm them even worthwhile at this point, or do I keep reciprocating their silence?

I'm sorry. I think you can take small steps, show them that you love them, and maybe open up some space. But since they are older, it may or may not work… I know it's difficult, but try not to get too upset, because besides the issue itself, the age factor can also weigh heavily.

@nil - Thanks! Agree with you. Think I’ll say that find myself more upset at the gesture of silence rather than the likely non-acceptance.

@subpartf that’s a nice idea! You guys don’t have much time together! So it’s better to stay together, spend some good time together . Hope everything gets better soon 🤞

I’m sorry you’re dealing with that. Whatever will be will be. I know it hurts but if there was ever true unconditional love there, they will come around.
