Love the feeling or love the action For me, love in action would always be my first choice. I want a relationship where my partner would be willing to take my hand and dance with me in the midst of a hundred or even a thousand people who object to our love. Where I would laugh at their jokes in public, even when they aren’t funny, simply because seeing them happy makes me happy. I want us to create a safe place for each other, where we can pour out our troubles and somehow turn them into sunshine. Where he would join me in the rain, singing along to every Olivia Dean song. Where getting ready becomes their favorite fashion show, and whenever we’re out, we hold hands, jump around, walk side by side, and enjoy the simplest moments together. I want us to notice when something feels off with each other without having to be told. To look at them and ask, “Are you really okay?” when we know they’re going through a difficult time. To be patient with each other, to choose each other, and to love every version of each other. I want to learn how to love someone the way they want to be seen and understood. I want someone who would listen to me talk about my day and somehow make it their favorite part of each day. That’s love to me. Love in action. The kind of love where you don’t just say you love someone—you learn them, notice them, understand them, choose them, and show them every day. That’s how you should learn to love someone.
