Where should life take me next? I still have five months of my sabbatical ahead of me. I’d rather stay a little longer than see a little more. If our paths cross this summer in Europe – or later this year somewhere in the Southern Hemisphere: I’d happily slow down for a coffee, a hike, or a few days together.

Too much of my travel in recent years has been work-related. I go somewhere for a short time due to a professional commitment. You may have heard of the “slow food” movement? I think I’m a believer in “slow travel,” by which I mean enjoying the time it takes to get somewhere and also just being there. I hate going places with what I call “checklist tourists” who want to see a list of things just to say they’ve seen them. It’s SO MUCH worse these days with selfies! I hate when i want to see and appreciate something or take a picture of the thing (work of art, scenic view, beautiful building) but I can’t because everyone else is just trying to get a selfie with it as background.
