A close-up shot of an Asian man lying in bed, partially covered by a white sheet and pillow. He looks directly at the camera with one eye visible.
I have never met as much racism, as in the gay community. Being Asian growing up was tough, but coming out into the gay scene was absolutely horrible. It scarred me for life. I do love that Asian culture, with anime, manga and K-Pop in the lead, is finally starting to get bigger in the western world

@juvenlee_surrealart Yes, in the straight community Asian woman have always been fetishized and been thought as sexy in movies and music etc. Asian men always played nerds before, or evil karate/ninja dudes… Asian men also have the ”wrong” physical attributes that are considered beautiful or attractive in men (often we are shorter, don’t have big blue eyes, and everybody thinks Asian men have mall d*cks). People also don’t understand that attraction is something learned and ever changing. This subject is very interesting and sad… haha. Could talk on this for hours…

@traveling-buddha I think what's interesting is the attraction.. and even community aspect... the racism, for all intents-and-purposes came/come from white gay men. Not overtly, covertly. When I was in college I had enough white friends to start a small soccer team! So I assumed once I came out that dynamic would merely follow, and more so, because, we're gay! Haha! Man, was I wrong about that! So that's the community part. The other part is in the straight world I had all types of girlfriends. I had a Swedish girlfriend. I had a Puerto Rican gf. I had a Hawaiian gf.. now it's like the gay community is determined to deny my beauty 🤣🤣🤣 like de.ter.mined. 🤣🤣 That's the structural element. If I went out into the straight world I'd get a gf like immediately. But in the gay world..... it's not about looks anymore... something more insidious is happening... something really touching hierarchical constructions..

@juvenlee_surrealart Hahaha. I can relate so much! So many beautiful girls have had a crush on me during the years (but I’ve always been gay and never with a girl). I came out when I was 19 and never dated anybody before that. In the gay community I haven’t really caught anyone’s interest at all. Except for very old men when I was 16-25. lol

@traveling-buddha and that can be a very painful experience, just reflecting on my own journey. But sidestepping the pain, there is an opportunity here to explore human attraction and our ability to shape it. There's this entanglement we have that our desires are sorta preset. That our likes are innate and not shaped- but if we look at gay Asian men's experience we can see that's not quite true. Gay Asian men have about the same struggle of mating in the heterosexual world- theoretically, but a sharp distinction takes shape in the homosexual world- the male homosexual world. Taking hold of that, understanding the means and ways they take shape could be very empowering in untold ways.
