What are you guys’ thoughts on gays who feel compelled to specify they’re “gay and NOT queer?” Always something that gets a subtle side-eye from me, but maybe I’m being unreasonable?

I’m glad they are honest, that way I don’t waste my time getting to know them 🤷🏽‍♀️

It reminded me of a huge argument I read online, where some gays were arguing about “loving men, but not being part of LGBTQ+ community”

@olegs - Yeah, I’ve seen gays say that, too. Odd to me.

I personally use queer and gay for myself almost interchangeably but a lot of people think queer means more flexibility with your sexual attraction and gay means just men to men, maybe they’re trying to suggest they’re only interested in men?

Almost as annoying as people who say, “no, you’re not queer; you’re gay.” There are a number of reasons why someone might ID as gay but not queer, but there’s only one reason why someone would tell someone else they don’t count as queer, only as gay.
