It stared her in the face, the choice of life or death. If she took that scrumptious, flavorful taco she would be dead in three days, but if she refused who knew how long she'd live. It was dizzying the amount of power she had over her life at that moment. If she didn't eat that taco she could no longer blame either luck or chance. Every moment would be her own. Every unforesseable, unfortunate circumstance her responsibility. If a car hit her, if someone stole her cat, if the river overflowed, if she had cancer, if she miscarried, if her husband decided to cheat on her with a younger woman, it would all be her fault alone. And all because she refused the delicious taco laid before her. Three weeks earlier she had received a call. Long story short Fate had made a wager saying that men needed the illusion of freedom or they'd fall into insanity. She was chosen to be the guinea pig. He told her a series of events that would culminate to her being given three tacos at 'That Mexican Place', and then her death. Everything occurred as foretold. She was with her best friend who thought her absolutely empathetically insane. She went along the ride reasoning away all of the foretellings. Some were quite difficult to reason away- how in the world could this scammer know exactly what lottery numbers to pick and where, was especially tricky. The chances of that happening seemed astronomical, impossible, divine, even if it was only 5 dollars. At 'That Mexican Place' after arguing about the absurdity of it all, she ordered two tacos. Why tempt fate. She finished the two tacos and her friend used that moment as evidence- where was this third death taco? Was she gonna order another one and murder herself through taco?? There was a mistake in the kitchen. They had made one taco too many. The waiter thought it would be a nice gesture to offer it to the two loud but friendly women. As he approached the table she could sense it was coming, around the corner. "Hello madam, we accidentally made one taco too many. Would you like it? It's on the house."
