What kind of relationship are you looking for that feels unattainable?

Many gay men often aspire to find the perfect partner and may sometimes see their choices as a reflection of themselves rather than appreciating their partner as an individual. This quest for perfection can occasionally lead to feelings of pressure, as society's ideals—especially those seen on platforms like Instagram—may influence their perceptions of acceptance. It's important to remember that true connection goes beyond outward appearances and societal standards!

I’ve been thinking a lot about this recently. I’m not saying that it’s all about sex, but in alignment on preferences/needs is really important. However, if you communicate that right away, it often turns sexual immediately (if it seems like a match) or it fizzles (if not). Building a connection feels like a risk when it doesn’t seem “perfect”, so we’re rarely giving connections the time they need to grow or it’s a quick pivot to opening the relationship. And I’m not saying being open is wrong either, just that I don’t think it’s always coming from the right place or reasoning. I’ve been out of the dating game for a little over two years and have never been as nervous or hesitant about finding a partner than I am now.

Because we are either looking for something that it’s unnatainable in its nature or in the wrong places. I see it among my both gay and straight friends. The minute they change their bad/toxic patterns, they find love and good relationship.

Well.. there’s an old saying.. you usually want what you can’t get, and usually get what you don’t want.. if your efforts are poor, you get back nothing. If your efforts are average, you get back poor results. If your efforts are great! You get back average results. So how do you get back the colossal, monumental results for your life? 🤷🏽‍♂️

As cliché as it may sound, RuPaul hits the nail on the head when he says that if you can’t love yourself, how can you truly love anyone else? I believe this goes deeper, especially when we consider the immense pressure society places on gay men. We often find ourselves boxed into roles that demand us to be performative—fashionable, funny, charming, or hypersexual—rather than embracing our individuality. This societal expectation creates a heavy burden, as we not only seek acceptance in a world that struggles to embrace us, but also feel the pressure to find a partner who matches that love and admiration we desire to give. It’s a challenging landscape, but recognizing these dynamics is crucial for our growth and self-acceptance and readiness to be accepting of others, to have an open heart to be vulnerable for love

Many gay men are confused about what a relationship really means. It’s the work of two men—not about finding someone who fulfills every need and magically makes you happy. Despite the typical gay delusion and senseless arrogance 😂, it’s still possible, buddy 😊.
