What are queer people looking for in an ally? This is for another story I’m working on.

Makes me think of my friends. They’re always very supportive and try their best to understand and sympathize with my experiences. They ask questions to deepen their understanding, never judge, but hold me accountable as good friends should. They’re a safe place for me when I need it. And it’s all reciprocal as well. I do the same for them ☺️

In general I expect them vote to for people who will not take away our rights. Just like I don’t vote for me only. I vote for my community, my people, those who are at a disadvantage. if you voted for Trump… you voted for hate, racism, homophobia, transphobia, etc… it’s that simple.

My first rule: they don’t have homophobic friends, partners etc. Second rule: they practice what they preach. Most “allies” seem to support queer people, but most of the time their hidden homophobia is embedded in their language
