It’s been too long since I’ve been to Berlin, so I don’t remember a distinctive scent, but if you wanted to capture the scent of a NYC street late at night, then I’d say 2 parts the smell of the garbage put on on the steers, 4 parts urine, .5 parts vomit, 2 parts honey locust blossom, and .5 part exhaust fumes and an equal quantity of that smell that I’m not sure how to describe, but it comes from Subway tracks. Kind of like something burning. 😂 😂 😂 I’m kidding, of course. The smells you encounter in NYC vary so much depending where you are. Choose almost any street and walk straight across the city from east to west and you go from the smells of the Hudson to the East River (which isn’t really a river at all) probably passing through neighborhoods with trees-lined streets and green spaces, others where you can small bagels or other goods baking for the morning, areas with nightlife where you will smell vomit and urine, etc. As I recall, Berlin is similar, no?
