Read this article and was quite interesting: “The loneliness epidemic in people's thirties isn't caused by social media or introversion — it's the first decade where maintaining friendships requires deliberate effort rather than structural proximity, and almost nobody was taught how to do that.” … do you agree with this?

Wow, I’ve never thought about it, but I see the point. Social media “friends” come and go, sometimes without me even realizing it. I can count on one hand the friends I’ve made on social media that I’ve ever met in person. Meanwhile, I’m still good friends with people I went to school with, even those with whom I’ve little in common.

Yes. When I first read it I thought it makes perfect sense. Although I doubt that’s the only reason. And that’s great, I have absolutely no contact with the people I went to school with. Those were awful times for me! 😬

Yes, but will also call out that social media, at least from big tech does seem to be a huge problem as evidenced by recent lawsuits against them that ruled in favor of the plaintiffs

@patricksf oh for sure! I blame social media for pretty much everything that went wrong in my life 😆

I think we should hold social media companies accountable for the fact that this is an epidemic. I’m suing Instagram and Facebook for losing years of my life. But you have to snug get lost in the guilt and end up losing the rest of your life.
