I spent most of my childhood and adolescence around girls.
Close enough to know the crushes, fights, clothes, alliances, revised alliances and who had apparently been a bitch on Tuesday but was somehow a best friend again by Friday.
Still, I’ve never liked being called “one of the girls.”
I wrote about the women who taught me how to tell stories, hold grudges, forgive people, get home drunk and be accountable.
Featuring school fights, Lana Del Rey, Shakira, gay bars, Julia Fox and a deeply undemocratic admissions policy.
When have you felt at home somewhere you knew wasn’t entirely yours?
