I used to have v romantic ideas about fate and never meeting ‘my person’ online. Then I met my husband online (on a website called Gaydar - this was before apps) but we didn’t actually meet until we bumped into each other IRL. So it was kind of hybrid: we probably wouldn’t have felt confident enough to approach each other if we hadn’t spoken before online? Maybe we would’ve. I managed to persuade myself there was some fate haha We’ve been together for 14yrs now. Perhaps this isn’t helpful as you asked about apps… many of my friends (queer, straight) now are on apps looking for a long/life partner but he’s feel frustrated - if only they could meet!
