I’ve been meaning to reply to this since the minute you posted it. I’m truly sorry people keep doing that to you, because like… who TF are they? The arbiters of life’s progression? It’s totally fair and valid to not have been in a relationship. Not everyone is hopping off cliffs just to exist in their “warm snuggly blanket.” Sometimes it doesn’t feel right, or it’s not the right time, or the cost of the fallout feels heavier than people like to admit. I say this as someone who’s cautious myself, not from distance or hindsight, but because I’m actively learning what connection can cost. Different people, different lives, different situations, different timelines. Some people really need to mind their own business, especially when they pay zero attention to how their unwisely picked words land on someone else.
