Dating in gay culture sucks, I can find people who I attract to. But majority of the time, they don’t commit in getting to know me. Or even messaging first to connect, which is even more annoying when it’s a match. I’m trying so hard not to give out on what I want with love, but each day I try apps or socialize. I can’t seem to get anywhere, because majority rather hookup and move to fast. It’s honestly bloody frustrating. Nature I have a question, when will it be my turn to find genuine love and attraction? In a man of my preference as well as a friend.

I’m sorry you’re going through all of that. Just know it’s not just the gays, the straights go through it too. I know this sounds corny, but after 4 girlfriends, and 3 boyfriends I decided that love what is not for me and instead just pursued what made me vibrate, radiate, be in harmony with the highest version of myself… …and that’s when love found me… ….its like, it sounds corny, but! Don’t go looking for love. Be open to it, but don’t go looking for it. Instead look for the thing that makes you shine the most. The things that makes you radiate like the sun, and THEN love finds you.. imho. Keep going! Someone is out there looking for you. Look at how many are looking for connections here. You’re not alone. ❤️

You’ll find the relationship you’re looking for when you stop looking for it. The universe will throw someone worthwhile at you once you’re happy with yourself and by yourself, meaning you’re so content being single that you actually don’t care whether you’ll ever meet someone. That’s when it’ll happen.

@its-a-gabe Sounds right, just sucks to experience when you came out as a person around 2022. And it seems as our society goes for, a lot of unnecessary pushback for LGBTQ+ and the dating scene for this community just isn’t the greatest in finding people in your same direction. A lot mislead more then others.

@gavinakagriffin. The pushback and the dating scene are propaganda. Being gay is fundamentally about who you share a bed with, yes, but it’s not inherently about pride parades, Grindr, and chain dating. Focus on developing yourself as a person aside from what the community expects of us and you’ll find the love you want ❤️ Or rather, it’ll find you. The universe will take care of it.

Wow! You’ve gotten some good advice here! Different approaches, though. Try those that suit you. My personal experience supports the advice of @its-a-gabe Find the things that you enjoy or that are important/meaningful to you and get involved, preferably in a communal environment. It can be anything! Personally, I found the love of my life at a professional conference while I was volunteering overseas. It was not an environment in which one would expect to find love and neither of us was looking for it. We became friends at the conference and kept in touch afterwards, but it was quite some time before either of us realized the other was gay! All of my most meaningful relationships outside my family, including friendships, have developed naturally and often quite unexpectedly, without me looking for them. Get out there and do things you enjoy in a communal environment. You’ll find things that fill your time meaningfully, you’ll build a support network, and you might even find love.

I disagree with „you’ll find it when you stop looking”, I don’t believe it’s real, nor it aligns with my experience. Apps can be exhausting and are mostly hookup oriented but you just need to push it through - through lots of people, conversations that lead no nothing etc. and you’ll find a person that will have similar dating goals. It’s possible but it takes a lot of work and also good choices on your part. Think of your type, maybe think why it didn’t work out with your type so far, maybe there’s a type you choose that keeps failing you. It’s a lot of thinking and self-examinations, reflecting on your own choices. I’d rather focus on that than „blaming” circumstances or the community.
