I’m not trying to play armchair psychologist, but sometimes gently testing the waters with general questions can help you get a better sense of what feels safe, when, and with who. Yeah, it can be a gamble, but it’s one you get to take on your own terms. Please do it with a safety net around you. Having people who’ve got your back adds layers of cushioning. I totally hear you, that’s your fear talking and we all have it to some capacity. I won’t add fluff in here, this could be one of the most difficult decisions you could ever make in your life and even if you loose everything there’s something no one can take away from you. Your dignity to live in your truth. You get to be the adult who can support themselves, and people will choose you. This is a great challenge for you to know if you truly are aligned with the people around you, because if you don’t feel safe to be yourself around them; you’re wasting your precious life with people who don’t deserve you. You deserve to be supported and loved.

@courtless absolutely agree with the safety net and having people be there to soften the blow, in the event it does turn sour. Hopefully not, but people react differently. Some people aren’t as quick to think on the spot so giving some space afterwards helps. I think the idea of testing the waters, but that can get tricky. I don’t know the audience and their capacity, so many asking the wrong questions or too many, may peek their interest. If they aren’t about that lifestyle, it can turn bad before the real statement even comes out. Just be careful if you are worried. :)
