Looking for inspiration ✨ just saw Obsession and loved it, now I’m hungry for more good horror!

As someone who loves horror there’s so many genres and styles to consider. If you want slasher start with either Halloween, Psycho, or Scream. Scream is the lightest, Halloween establishes the format as everyone followed though. If you want religious horror, Conjuring is a great start. More commentary focused I would suggest is Alien, Hereditary, or Get Out.

@ruloo.46 I loved Alien, Hereditary and Get Out! Hereditary is one of the best horror movies made, it’s heavy, but excellent. Very intense atmosphere. I’m gonna watch some of the slashers, haven’t seen your recs except Psycho which is great!

Pearl - mia goth’s final monologue in the movie is the most memorable horror performance of the last decade imo. It has a very specific mix of beauty, isolation, ambition and the craving to be seen or special. Visuals of the movie are also 10/10

I love the Final Destination franchise for the everything circles back aspect. Death also is a super campy diva and has great taste in music.

I love A Quiet Place for the suspense it creates. Thought it was such a unique take on filmmaking!

Wrong Turn! It came at a time where movies easily became classics, it had Eliza Dushku in it so that enjoyment of her from BRING IT ON was there. It’s horror but camp in the best way. They later went on to make sequels up to wrong turn 7 😂

@cal Ouhh they’re all soo good! It Follows is truly one of a kind, love the soundtrack. Obsession has similar vibes, a lil Twin Peaks inspired music too!

@beachbum Pearl is truly a horror masterpiece, my fav of the trilogy. I feel so sad for her tbh. The smile in the end is also just so phenomenal haha.

@zerspielt I have never seen the movies, only the scene with the highway logs and I decided to not be more traumatized by watching more 😆

@tommykid Damn, so many wrong turns 😆 have you seen Cabin in the Woods? It’s really bizarre horror, and some good comedy. Just a fun twist of a horror movie haha

Dead Silence, it’s just eerie the film takes you on a journey you wouldn’t wanna start. And, it gets particularly unhinged in a abandoned theater scene. Oh and the film includes lots, lots of ventriloquist dummies. The score for the film is also well done, it really sets the tone for the film 🎞️

@gavinakagriffin. Oh I just checked it up, James Wan movie! I recognize the cover, I am terrified of dolls/puppets/clowns since I was 10 and watched Poltergeist haha. But I’ll give it a go, it sounds very interesting 👀 love a good score as well

@vincentthefox Can confirm It’ll be a great watch, just be prepared to be a little on edge and watch for hints the film throws at you. The hints come back later in the film like Saw.

@magickdad I saw it three days ago! For sure my fav horror of 2026 💙 the acting is superb and it’s so layered, nothing over the top and not dragging, just a great horror movie. Loved it. I was terrified the whole movie haha

A recent horror movie that I love is Smile, and Smile 2. When it comes to favorites, it’s very hard to pin down. I’d say Skinamarink for a slow burn, House (Hausu) for artistic measure,Terrifier for gore, and Weapons is great all around.

Fuck, I didn’t even properly answer the question. I have a deeper connection to Silent Hill as a franchise, and there’s something so deeply comforting about the first movie. The practical effects, the way it takes its time with the atmosphere. Even if the story is ultimately not loyal to the subject material, there’s something about seeing that world on screen in a respectful way. I feel like I hardly see something like that anymore.

There are so many options The Descent is one of my favorite horror movies seen it a ton of times but still scares me. But some of my other faves are the Saw movies, the Scream movies, the new Evil Dead movies, Barbarian, Midsummer, The Strangers.

@gore-galore Love a good slow burn! I’ve heard Skinamarink is one of the scariest movies out there. And for Silent Hill, I’ve played SH2 and 3, and agreed! I have never been more scared when playing SH2 tbh. The creepy unsettling feeling doesn’t leave for a couple of days.. 🥲

@lindsay I was so shocked watching Barbarian. A wild ride 😆 loved it. And the Descent is a good rewatch! If you play horror games I recommend Until Dawn, thematically similar!

@vincentthefox it’s uncanny, and lonely. It feels good coming back to it and exploring a desolate town.
