For an app centered around friendship, I’m a little confused by the emphasis on visual aesthetic. Sense of humor, kindness, intelligence, and shared interests are more important than how you look.

Of course, these qualities are extremely important to friendships. And yet, we all have faces, bodies, and presumably enjoy doing things out in the world. Are you proposing that people not post any pictures of themselves? Is a smiling selfie in a forest or at a beach or behind a pottery wheel or at a concert not an accurate way to assess shared interests and values?

@nebjamin I see your point and I’m not saying that showing yourself in your photos is a bad thing. However, a lot of profiles I see are nothing but gym pics. Having an interest in fitness isn’t inherently bad, but when the focus is on the body and not the soul, it’s hard to get an idea of who that person is. Another issue I have with this platform is that the interests section of the profile page is too general. Saying you enjoy music and movies under interests isn’t specific enough to spark conversation. If anything, I think the balance is off.

@mikhailgallo could be wrong here, but that might be your algorithm/who you are following. who are you interacting with, what kind of posts are you liking?

@mikhailgallo I see what you’re saying. For me, the gym is a place where I *am* working on my soul. It reduces stress, makes my body stronger and more resilient, acts a place of connection and community, and makes me feel good about myself. Elle Woods said it best: exercise gives you endorphins, endorphins make you happy. Is it so bad to post about it? If that’s all someone posts, though, I think they may be sending the right signal to you: your interests aren’t aligned. Isn’t that actually good? You can connect with someone else instead.

It’s based on algorithm, the type of content you post in likes, and similar posts. Clicking on the x on the photos will limit the amount of people in your “For you” page. Personally, I don’t interact with those profiles anyways lol I check out the profiles posting in the discussions tab, within the same city, or based off vibes. Some of my best connections since joining isn’t the guys that post gym/elevator selfies constantly anywho 😅

I genuinely thought this app was for LGBTQ+ creatives and artists! Not that they’re mutually exclusive, but interesting to hear about the friendship aspect of it.

@scorpius perhaps I just need to train the algorithm a bit more. I only joined two days ago so I haven’t interacted with many posts yet.

@mikhailgallo it takes time! New profiles are kinda difficult to connect since you’re starting out fresh, been in the same boat haha Eventually after posting your hobbies, your interest, updates on life here and there etc. You’ll gain some traction with people who share similar interests when they view your profile and may want to connect. Just like any social platform, it takes time and you’ll be noticed!

I mean I think this is a slippery slope. A lot of the content I like is about guys with chiseled chests and abs. What’s not to fantasize about this. They sure get way more likes than the picture of the food I cook. If I had a body like this of course I would like to show it and crave the attention. Would I want to go out with a guy with a Greek god body ? Of course. Will it happen ? Probably not because that means we won’t have a lot of common interests. And I think it’s part of the fantasy

I’m so with you 😭 I got excited because I thought it’s finally going to be friends oriented… but this just isn’t it

@mikhailgallo It is not limited to this app. This reflects a broader cultural pattern we live in, where many gay individuals experience emptiness and loneliness, often channeling their identity into singular outlets. For some, it becomes the gym and fitness culture; for others, it manifests in toxic work environments, dependence on substances, or compulsive engagement with social media.

@nekshad23 make sure you write to people and write back when people write to you. I get so many matches but hey none of them answer back so … everyone puts in their profile “don’t be shy, drop me a line” but if both people have this in their bio, who drops the first line ?

@jcp for real. I’ve barely had 3 matches, and I was like okay, what now? Who’s going to say hi first? Haha😂 Someone reached out today and I responded though 💛
