As someone who’s always struggled with social anxiety I’ve spent the last few weeks pushing myself out my comfort zone I’ve been going to the sauna at the gym and I’ve spoken to at least one new person each time and it’s made me feel so much better about going to the gym

I‘m not sure who needs to hear this today but just breathe, you’re going to be okay. breathe and remember that you’ve been in this place before. you’ve been this uncomfortable and anxious and scared - and you survived. breathe and know that you can survive this too. you’ve come so far. please think about where you were a year ago, or three, or five. you’ve overcome things you once thought you never would. you’ve done things you didn’t think you could do, even if some of those were just getting out of bed and facing another day

Something I’ve recently come to learn is that you don’t always need someone with you to do the things you want to do. In undergrad, there were concerts, events, and unforgettable moments I wanted to experience, but I held myself back because I was afraid of going alone. Missing out on those moments taught me something: it’s not always about who can go with you. Sometimes, it’s about choosing to show up for yourself. I’ve been getting better at learning how to exist on my own, and I think the world could use the reminder that we don’t always need another person beside us to enjoy the things we love.

I went through a breakup back in January where the guy said he wasn’t good enough for me cause “he wasn’t giving me as much as I was giving him” AND NOWWW BACK TO THIS BIH who is now saying all over TikTok that he wants “intense love” but mind you all, this is the same guy who didn’t want me to call him “love” or “baby” or even give him flowers cause that made him feel uncomfortable. What a clown. Sorry in advance, I just can’t stand incongruity.

We delay choosing ourselves because we think someone else will choose us. Lately, I’ve learned that if they haven’t chosen you by now, they probably never will. People place masculinity inside a box, believing it has to look a certain way—and that anything outside of that box is feminine, wrong, or somehow less than. But masculinity doesn’t exist in a vacuum. I’m learning that it isn’t fixed. It’s flexible. It can move, expand, soften, and still be masculine. And I’m done shaming myself for existing outside of the box. Yes, I’m single. Yes, I face rejection daily. But at least I’m free to be whoever I choose to be, and not whoever I was taught I should be. And I think choosing myself has been worth every rejection.

Does anyone else have accidental RBF? 😅 I promise I’m friendlier than my face sometimes suggests. Apparently my neutral expression says “do not approach,” while I’m actually thinking, “Please come talk to me.” What’s something people usually get wrong about you at first?

How do you feel about going after new things that interest you? Hobbies, self-guided study, social expansion, etc. I think sometimes we feel like we have to rely on other people and institutions to get started. I’m diving right in to try new things, and maybe you can be inspired to do the same!

I wish you could see that I don’t chase you. I choose you. I choose to love you unconditionally, despite the fear that you show up in. And society has labeled you avoidant and me anxious, which only further causes more separation between the two of us. I wish that you could just see that I honor and respect the fear that you’re operating from, but the love that I have available to you is here for you. I love you Brian.

In the last few days you've probably said something unkind to yourself. So we're going to sit here for a moment and apologize to ourselves. Repeat: "I'm sorry I was so hard on you. I forgive you. I love you. I believe in you. You are a beautiful soul and deserve the very 🌻

I thought I was angry at you, for leaving, for the silence, for all the things you never said. But maybe, if I’m honest, I’m angry at myself. For the words I should have spoken. For the moments I didn’t understand. For the times I held on too tightly, and the times I let you slip away. And maybe you’re angry too not because you stopped caring, but because caring became painful. Four years don’t disappear just because two people break. Sometimes love stays in the places anger lives. Maybe that’s why we keep finding our way back to the same door. Not because everything is fixed. But because somewhere inside us, neither one of us has completely stopped hoping. And if I could say just one thing, without fear, without asking anything from you I’d say: I’m not angry at you anymore. I’m angry at myself for not knowing how to love you the way you needed when I had the chance.

Just read Fruit fly by Josh Silver, most of it in one sitting, after I found it recommended here. I’m not sure how much and what I can say about it considering it’s fairly new and to not spoil it for others because it was a 5/5 for me, my favourite part is part of the plot towards the end (sorry). If you read it, thoughts? Also looking for my next book recommendation, what’s the most “I can’t put it down” book you’ve read in a while?
