assault can be wrong. bullying can be wrong. but someone’s personhood cannot be wrong. An individual’s appearance, voice, mannerisms, etc. cannot be wrong.

These are not nails, they’re relics I’ve welded to myself. Real stones, the kind the earth had to suffer : heavy, unpolished, stubborn. I let them stay raw, because refinement is a cheap trick for people who fear reality. Silver clings around them like metal scraped off a broken machine, as if luxury was never meant to be smooth. I don’t wear glitter, I wear geological evidence as proof that something precious can exist without behaving nicely. Let everyone chase polish and symmetry; I’m busy dragging minerals straight from the dirt to my hands. If beauty has no meaning, then at least let it be rare, heavy, and older than every opinion in the room. I don’t decorate myself. I carry artifacts.

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about the train station theory - this idea that life is a journey where everyone you meet is a passenger. Some only sit beside you for a few stops, others stay a little longer, and a few ride with you until the very end. It’s a simple metaphor, but it’s changed how I see people and the role they play in my life. For so long, I tried to hold on-wanting certain connections to last forever, replaying moments in my head, wondering what went wrong when people drifted away. But the truth is, not everyone is meant to stay for the whole journey. Some are there to teach you something, to remind you of who you were at that stop, before you moved forward. There’s a strange kind of peace that comes with that acceptance. You stop chasing, stop questioning, stop trying to make temporary people permanent. It’s not about losing people anymore; it’s about learning to appreciate the ones who choose to stay, even when they have every reason to leave. Those few who remain seated beside you-not because they have to, but because they want to. And those are the ones worth cherishing. 🫧

More connected than ever, yet more isolated than ever. We’re constantly connected, and increasingly alone. Connection has never been easier but loneliness has never been louder.

It’s wild how certain people touch something in you they were never built to hold. And the disappointment hits not because you needed them, but because for a moment you believed the connection could be bigger than it was. These feelings don’t break me — they just reveal more of who I am, what I want, and why I keep loving.

have you ever seen someone disappear? i mean truly disappear. right before your eyes; day by day, hour by hour, fading away until there’s nothing left. nothing of who they were still here. have you truly watched someone disappear? if you have, you know that you start to disappear, too.

Next time you’re on a dating app ask yourself — Am I here because I need attention? Or because I’m actually looking for love? Don’t criticize yourself for the answer, just observe. You’ll understand why you reply to some people and why you avoid some. Besos 💋

timothée chalamet dating kylie jenner makes perfect sense because like most white boys in new york city he’s overtly trying to emulate black culture.

i love the feeling of getting “clearer” as you get older, like with each year there’s less room for messing around or pretending or playing a game with something you know deep in your heart is not right for you. it’s like your brain just gets better and better at cutting you off as you consider something and tells you “no that is not for me” before you can jump in. and it’s not as if things get more serious, but the opposite. you have freedom in giving yourself more and more permission to purposefully live life and go after whatever you want and to love freely knowing that things are secure in your heart and mind.. at least when i am struggling i know that the “clearing” is really what’s happening

The danger of white liberals is that those invested in maintaining power, those who see their whiteness as property will be in spaces that purport to move toward equity and will only take and use the constructs that benefit their project. This is dangerous because it sounds and looks like equity and inclusion but people of the global majority (see:people of color) are silenced—and only allowed to speak and be known in distorted ways (Dotson). They (white liberals) may even co-opt the very narratives, theories, constructs posed by the oppressed and use it to their benefit—while the livelihoods of those whose narratives were co-opted remain unchanged.

Lynch’s writing is captivating 🫠 “taking grip of his beard while she watches him silently, judging him in that familiar way, after a certain age a man grows a beard not to enter manhood but to put a barrier to his youth, she can hardly recall him clean-shaven.” Excerpt From Prophet Song by Paul Lynch Booker Prize Winner 2023
